Thesis Statement

My senior thesis is titled “The Bad Guy” with the goal of celebrating the perspective of the villain and blurring those black and white spaces of right and wrong. Villains are necessary for the hero to exist. They are formed under the pressure of injustice and highlight issues within their communities. It’s rare that we take the time to reflect on the extreme circumstance/s that caused the villain or “The Bad Guy” to form. Through personal experience and observation I soon realized that society is quick to draw opinion from the side of the majority even if the majority is flawed. My goal is to make this a space for open dialect, nostalgia, and social media to merge. The concept is to highlight different villains from childhood cartoon networks: Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, Cartoon Network and etc. , and bring to light the issues in society they potentially represent. “The Bad Guy” should feel included in the production of a solution because without their bold reactive spirit society would be blinded by its-self.
